Tax prep checklist
At TriDelta Financial we believe that people should structure their adult life by having a few key professional partners to guide them wisely. These include finding a good doctor, dentist, certainly a lawyer, sometimes an accountant and a few others such as a trusted and efficient tax return expert.

Here is one such company, Shoebox Tax Prep that are professional, efficient, very detailed and not too expensive. We asked them to provide a checklist to assist with prepping to do your taxes.

Ever Considered Loaning your Spouse Money?
Here's why you might.

We all look for ways to reduce the amount of tax we pay. Sometimes I come across situations where one spouse has accumulated a larger
couple
non-registered investment account than the other. This can happen over time when one spouse has a higher income than the other, or perhaps when one spouse receives an inheritance.

Planning your funeral
At TriDelta Financial we believe in life balance and planning, which requires addressing those 'not so pleasant' aspects along with the fun stuff. Planning a Small business
funeral is one of these important realities and we asked Glen Oaks Memorial in Oakville to provide some planning insight:

Although everyone agrees that a baby shower, birthday celebration, wedding, vacation or even a picnic requires planning. People seldom consider planning ahead for one of the most important events in their lives.

Death is a 100% certainty - it's a natural part of life. But your death will inevitably bring loss and sadness to those who love you. By planning your own funeral now, you can ease the burden on your loved ones in the future.

Standing In Another Man's Grave
by Ian Rankin

I sense that most readers like to read a 'one off' novel, but for me there is nothing like picking up a follow-up novel and discovering more about the exploits of a colourful character or characters that you were not quite ready to
Standing In Another Man's Grave
part with. Such has been the case for me with the John Rebus novels penned by Britain's foremost crime writer Ian Rankin.

Ian Rankin is a popular novelist who has cornered over 10% of the total crime books read in the U.K. for the past few years. Although he is responsible for a variety of novels his flawed John Rebus character has captured the imagination of many readers causing every one of his books to make it to the top ten list.

John Rebus is a hard-nosed unorthodox detective who works and resides in Edinburgh, Scotland. Constantly bending and flexing the rules and rubbing up against authority he manages to find success in most cases. Following his exploits you get to see an array of sights of Edinburgh and many other parts of Scotland, also delving into some of the history.

While my featured book is his latest novel called, 'Standing in another man's grave' I would highly recommend, that if you feel this is your sort of novel, you should start by reading some of the early Rebus books in the series just to get a greater feel of the characters and the setting e.g. 'Knots and Crosses'; 'Hide and Seek'. The featured novel explores life after retirement as Rebus is drafted into a 'cold case' team that makes some startling discoveries.

Lawrence of Arabia
(Re-released version)

Having enjoyed seeing all the recently nominated academy award movies it made me reflect on all the great previous winners for Best Picture, and there certainly has been some classics that stand the test of time.

Lawrence of Arabia
Many of these movies are etched in my mind and will always stay with me, such as The Sound of Music, Chariots of Fire, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Shawshank Redemption and The Sting, to name a few. While there are some years when only one good movie sticks out there are other times when there are a number of great contenders which I believe was the case in 1963 when the best picture award was given to Lawrence of Arabia as it came up against The Longest Day, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Music Man and Mutiny on the Bounty.

The reason I know all this is that Lawrence of Arabia is my husband's all-time favourite movie. So last Christmas I bought a new rereleased DVD of the movie for him and a short time ago I sat down with him to watch it for the first time.

I am sure by now most people are familiar with the story, which is a dramatized version of the exploits of T. E. Lawrence, a flamboyant and controversial senior officer in the British Military, when serving in the middle east during the First World War. The star-studded cast includes Peter O'Toole, Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins and Alec Guinness excel, the music is mesmerising, the scenery and epic scenes are classics which all fully demonstrate why it earned 7 Oscars.

When the movie was first shown it was thought to be too long and 20 minutes were removed with some scenes deemed to be the directors favourite. In the new version they have managed to locate and insert those cut scenes making the story of T.E. Lawrence even better. Although I didn't see the original version I do have to thank my husband's love of this movie which caused me to sit down and watch all wonderful 216 minutes of it.
